Multiplayer

Multiplayer Voxalike runs on private room codes, shared Dub Packs, and a Ready Up gate before anyone records.

Create or join a room

From the main menu, open Multiplayer, create a room or enter a friend’s code, then wait in the lobby. The host selects the Dub Pack and mode before the session starts.

Co-op vs PVP

  • Co-op — up to 12 players build one shared dub. Use Claim Mode or Round Robin to assign lines.
  • PVP — up to 8 players compare performances. Turn Battle records in sequence; Parallel Race lets everyone finish independently.

Keep packs in sync

Every player must subscribe to and install the same Dub Pack in Mods before Ready Up. If one player is on an older pack version, the room may stall or reject the scene.

Ready Up & recovery

  1. Host picks pack and mode, then shares the room code.
  2. Each player installs the pack and opens Mic Check.
  3. Everyone presses Ready Up when the meter moves.
  4. If a line stalls, the host can retry or skip before continuing.

Common fixes

Room stuck before recording

Confirm all players finished Mods install and pressed Ready Up. Refresh Mods if a pack shows outdated.

Wrong pack in room

Leave the room, reinstall the host’s pack, and rejoin with a fresh code.

Host responsibilities

The host chooses the Dub Pack, game mode, and room privacy settings. Before pressing record, confirm every player sees the same pack version under Mods. If someone joins late, pause and wait for their install bar to finish — starting early is the most common cause of desynced lines.

Co-op line assignment strategies

In Co-op, groups often use Claim Mode so players can pick which open lines they want, or Round Robin to rotate turns automatically. For comedy sessions, Claim Mode produces faster chaos; Round Robin feels fairer for mixed skill groups.

PVP mode details

Turn Battle records players one after another — great for live commentary. Parallel Race lets everyone finish the clip list independently while the game compares accuracy and completion time. Pick Parallel Race when players might need different amounts of retry time.

Recovery playbook

  1. One player missing a pack → everyone refreshes Mods and reinstalls.
  2. Stuck Ready Up → host reissues room code after confirming installs.
  3. Silent mic in room → affected player reruns Mic Check solo, then rejoins.
  4. Crash mid-scene → host restarts scene; export partial runs if still visible.

Latency and etiquette

Encourage players to use wired internet when possible. Mute open speakers to prevent echo. Agree beforehand whether retries are unlimited or capped per line — social clarity prevents frustration in PVP lobbies.
