How to Play

This guide walks you through a complete first Voxalike session in the browser — from picking a Dub Pack to exporting a finished dub.

Workshop & Mods

Open Workshop from the main menu, browse Dub Packs, and subscribe to a short scene for your first run. Return to PLAY → Mods and wait until the pack finishes installing in this browser.

  • Prefer a local pack? Import a trusted ZIP from Mods without an account.
  • Multiplayer requires every player to install the same pack before Ready Up.

Microphone setup

Voxalike records your spoken lines into each scene. Allow microphone permission when the browser asks, then open Settings → Mic Check.

  • Select the real input device — not a virtual cable unless you intend to use one.
  • Speak at your normal performance volume and confirm the meter moves.
  • Wear headphones so scene audio does not bleed into your recording.
  • If Mic Check stays silent, reload the tab and check OS/browser mic permissions.

Multiplayer rooms

Private rooms use short codes. The host picks the Dub Pack and mode — Co-op (one shared dub) or PVP (compared performances).

  • Co-op supports up to 12 players; PVP supports up to 8.
  • Everyone must install the same pack and press Ready Up before recording.
  • If someone stalls, the host can recover the line or restart the scene.

Export & save

After a good run, export while the tab is still active. Voxalike can save Shorts-style vertical video, landscape video, or audio depending on your browser.

  • Keep the tab in the foreground while rendering — background tabs may drop heavy jobs.
  • Download immediately; browser storage is not a permanent media library.
  • Retry weak lines before export so you do not need to re-record the whole scene.

First session checklist

  1. Subscribe to one short Dub Pack and install it under Mods.
  2. Run Mic Check once before your first take.
  3. Record one complete scene and replay it.
  4. Export the result before closing the browser tab.

Quick troubleshooting

Mic Check is silent

Reload the page, pick a different input, and confirm no other app is locking the microphone.

Workshop pack will not install

Refresh Mods, wait for the download bar to finish, and avoid switching tabs during install.

Multiplayer stuck on Ready Up

Verify every player installed the same pack version, then let the host restart the room.
